With its colorful characters and Yarikomi elements (that allows fans to delve deeper into the game), Luminous Arc 3: Eyes is looks like something that strategy fans like me would love to play. The latest Weekly Famitsu report shares some storyline, new characters, game flow and also a special unlockable animation. The game will be released on December 10th in Japan.

Story

After losing his best friend to a witch when both of them are still kids, Refi realized he can use magics and decided to improve his skills in a magic school to look for ways to defeat the witches. He will meet plenty of colorful characters in the college and becomes a member of the Magus group to battle witches. An epic story is waiting for us according to Famitsu.

New Characters

A couple of new characters were revealed in the report. Raira (first and second screen above) belongs to a race with special magics and she love to collect weird items. On the other hand, Bonaparte is a rabbit-shape fairy. He seems to be very proud of himself, uses Magic Knuckle as weapon and expert at setting up traps.

Game Flow

The game consists of two parts: School Part for story and Battle Part to do battle with the witches. School Part itself has Day Time (before a battle) and After Break (after a battle) where players can move around freely, chat with other characters or make preparation for battle. However, your movements in School are still limited and choosing the right kind of actions to do will be key. Once an order has been received, players can pick their party members before heading into Battle Part, where characters move on grid of squares depending on the amount of AO (Action Order) they have. Once battle is finished, players can spend some time talking to either their party members or NPCs to improve your friendship with them.

Yarikomi

If you don’t feel like attacking the story mode, you can always check out the various Yarikomi elements. One of them is Knights Club, which lets players unlock new characters to work as the assistants in the club.

Hot Spring Dungeon is still here and besides your party members, you can also invite characters like Fatima from the previous games.

Lapis Arts are accessories that players can use to customize their characters’ abilities.

Multiplayer

You can take the characters you created in single player to go online and battle other players, both Wireless and Wi-Fi battle are available. Multiplayer uses the same rules as regular battles except that there is a time limit for issuing command. Both the winning and losing get to collect items at the end of each battle.

Special Anime

By unlocking a special event called “Seika Matsuri”, players will be presented with a special animated CG that features the characters in Christmas suits. Studio DEEN is the production house behind the anime.
